Ta for that, shall have to see if I can get my line to stay as fixed.

I'm going to give the max service a go, but shall be keeping a tight eye on the sync. James says there's things they can do to a line now to stabilize speeds that weren't possible a couple of years ago. Can always go back to enta on a another reseller if this doesn't pan out.

Migration due today but we're buried under 8-12" snow and have no electricity (typing this from at work atm). Wellie boots and candles

Hi there.

I got no emails either, but managed to connect today after a 2 day power cut. Took a few goes, but I got there in the end. New IP and ADSL24 show up as my ISP on the speedtester. But I'm still on a fixed speed line, which is not what I thought was going to happen as I had thought I was being migrated to the max service initially. Anyhoo...no matter.

My migration happened on the last day of my billing cycle, so my new cycle remains the same as it was with enta..beginning on 1st of the month. At a guess, I would think you'll be migrated around your normal monthly billing date.

Use this info below as was most helpfully posted by i5m. Thanks.

On this date you will need to change the username in your router to reconnect.

Once logged in to your router setup page, you will need to enter the below username and save the settings.

Username: youradsl24username@login.adsl24.co.uk

You do not need to change any other settings including your existing router password, however please ensure your router is set to obtain an IP address and DNS servers automatically.

If you have any difficulties in getting online please contact our 24 hour support team on 01457 6000 25 and choose the Murphx support option.
The second email gives your IP address in addition to re-iterating the above.

Seems there is no choice Does anyone offer fixed speed lines anymore? I'm going to try and look into it as a backup plan.

Ok, so I'll give Murphx and Max a whirl and if it fails I'll go back to an entanet reseller as it seems they still offer fixed speed lines (for the time being).

Hi i5m

I switched over on 31st and I'm still showing my fixed line stats...576/288 ...so I guess I got my fixed line after all. James had said I would be on max, but it didn't materialize, so you may end up the same...it may just switch over and nowt may change

I've been on murphx since November and really can't fault the network, no throttling or traffic shaping, definitely beats Entanet.

But be warned, they are just as bad as BT when it comes to managing line-cards and ADSL lines (the last mile stuff). They muddle up things like "actual signal to noise" and "signal to noise margin". The current one is really funny: they keep insisting my line is double the length it really is, when the actual problem I'm having is a fixed rate sync profile of 2016kbps, giving me a S/N margin of 13.4db!

slenpree, in your case, this is not murphx, its Cable & Wireless - completely different company
