How can I find out how fast my connection is running at?

Are you connected to a router? This will give your synch speed and line stats, but to find your actual connection speed you would need to input your details into something like http://speedtester.bt.com/ (http://www.adsl24.co.uk/forum/redirector.php?url=%68%74%74%70%3a%2f%2f%73%70%65% 65%64%74%65%73%74%65%72%2e%62%74%2e%63%6f%6d%2f)

Just remember though that your line will be in training for the first 10 days, so any reported speeds now may not reflect the true speed you can achieve, as they will fluctuate tremendously at this time.

Hi,
I have just tried to run the speedtest, the error message I have pasted below. I have got this message last night and also thismorning.

Unexpected result received when querying the network to find your services connection details. Please try again shortly, but if this problem persists raise the issue with your service provider.

My modem stats show Data Rate 8128 and 448 kbps

Whatever it is I was able to download a 52mb file last night in just over 2 mins.
So happy so far
Steve.

That's maximum synch so don't worry about anything. :)

You often have to try the BT Broadband Performance Tester several times to get it to work.

When you use the bt speetester, what is the login to use?

Ok, it just worked for me also!!! It wouldn't before??
Anyway, here are my results:
Results Image not loaded

Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
IP profile for your line is - 7150 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 8128 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 4235 kbps

If you wish to discuss these results please contact your ISP.

mmm, I was getting better than that just after I migrated. I haven't changed anything because I tweaked my connection settings to get just over 7mb/sec, but now its just over 4mb/sec. Oh well.

I also find that sometimes the BT Broadband Performance Tester takes several attempts to get going. And sometimes it takes long time to load the next page.

May be BT is still using an IBM XT as a server :(
