Ever since i told AOL that i wanted to leave and have since started my hopefully new path to better D/L speeds (ADSL24 FTW). I have been having speed issues.

I am normally on 1mb (don't all laugh:( ) but only seem to be getting 1/2 meg now??(stop laughing please)

Do you think that they are messing around or is it something that happens when you migrate and bt are messing with the line.

Hopefully this post makes sense;)

Interesting thing when i did live help on aol and spoke with technical 10mins later i had my 1mb back weird

It's definitely not going to be anything that BT are doing as part of your migration, so it's probably just AOL providing their normal standard of service.

since aol were taken over by carphone warehouse i have been waiting to see what would happen.

Just tried another speed test and it's gone back up looks like i am being capped at peak times did my first test about 7pm second at 11pm.

Wa**ers !!!

Got my changeover date Monday 5th can't wait just hope i can get online with all this aol crap in my router

Do you think it would be a good idea to reset my router to default settings would this clear the aol settings

Resetting your router to the default settings should clear out any AOL specific settings.

The following are the basic settings required by most routers to establish a connection to adsl24:

VCI: 38
VPI: 0
Encapsulation: PPPoA VCMUX
Authentication: CHAP
MTU: 1492
Primary DNS: 195.74.113.58
Secondary DNS: 195.74.113.62
Password
Username

you would need to check and enter the above to make a connection

Hope i can work out where to put them.

Put your details..login/password....login=username@adsl.enta.net
Set ip address dynamically(you can also set it in the blacked out area). Encapsulation...PPPoA(PPP over ATM).
DNS primary 195.74.113.58
DNS primary 195.74.113.62
Set... VCI: 38 VPI: 0 in the ADSL settings page.

If you have any problems, Select "backup settings"..restore your router to factory settings ....and input details.

Similar question here,
I've recently migrated to ADSL24 from AOL, and my activation was today, so I've set up the connection and gave it a test downloading a video. It don't seem to go any faster than 125kb/s.
Is that a normal issue when first migrating? I've switched my router on and off too...

Hi Panda
If you are undergoing a 10 day training period, then your speeds will be up and down. Do not keep re-booting your router, this will not help, and could make things worse. Nothing can be done until the 10 days is up.
What is your profile at the moment ? http://test.speedtester.bt.com:50301/ ;)

Hey,
I had

IP profile for your line is - 7150 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 8128 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 5084 kbps

Not a lot wrong with that. A bit of tweaking here and there can probably improve it some more ;) . We can do that after the 10 days is up.
Your profile is OK for a MAX connection without interleaving on.
Have patience :D

YOUR'S LOOKS A LOT BETTER THAN MINE :(

IP profile for your line is - 2000 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 8128 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 1855 kbps

I USED TO GET 7000, ?.... Could it be the Ten day training causing this?

Router: DG834G

If the profile hasn't shifted after the 10 days get on to Enta to have it sorted. Downstream 8128 will give a profile of 7150. Nothing will be done before the 10 days are up, however.

Cheers Ircsum :)
It looks like your exactly right, I have been reading about it, classic simptoms of bRAS profile is stuck at 2Mb as confirmed from my IP profile on the new BT performance tester. if it does not get shifted after the ten days is up, I will contact them again. As I actualy have already spoke to them, well it looks like it will all come out in the wash. At least the 2meg I do get is nice and stable, Unlike when I was on Titscali, and had all the lag.. lol
And when I download anything now, it comes down at a constant rate.
so I am happy for now.

Do the ten day training include weekends, or is it ten working days,, Hmm Just a thought

Cheers for info... :D

LOL - it includes weekends. The process is automated and BT's kit is allowed to do overtime at weekends......maybe because it does little in the way of real work during the week. ;)
