View Full Version : A warning to anyone migrating from tiscali

Yesterday my new adsl24 connection was established & couldn't wait to get home and try it out :D

Turns out that tiscali (like many others apparently - AOL included) lock their modems to their service, so I discovered that my Sagem F@st 800 couldn't be configured, so no internet.

You can manually configure it, but it would be better to just get a new router.

This is for anyone not aware that this will probably happen to you too!

Thanks for posting this warning. Sky do exactly the same. Another reason why I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole!

This is not the same with all ISP's mind you and I would first check if this is the case.

Its a trial by fire ;) give it a go but you need to change the username and password to access our systems and if the modem has a fixed @tiscali address then no.

So I change my username and password under the tools menu and internet connections is that right.

But how do I know if the modem has a tiscali address on it, anyway of finding that out first.

It will ask for the username and normally it will already have the @tiscali part in the address.

Just to update Tiscali switchers. The modem does work! Simply change your xxx@tiscali.co.uk username and password with xxx@adsllogin.co.uk username and password (these will be sent to you by email).
Step by step...
In Internet explorer, click Tools > Internet Options > Connections (tab), then you will see your old username and p/w. Simply replace and click Apply or OK, and resign in!
